For us, having fun while climbing is the most important aspect! Therefore we are always looking for new ways to make it more fun and compelling.
By Gamified Climbing you can make it much more fun and easy to access! One way to gamify climbing is by making contests. People have been doing that since forever. So I will not be going into any depth on this subject. Another way is by incorporating LED lights into your climbing wall. Or even use a projector to augment the reality of the climbing wall.
And that is just the ways we have already seen. Vitual Reality is making quantum leaps at the moment. Who knows, in the future we might even be climbing walls with VR goggles in our backyard! VR Climbing! And feel like we are climbing somewhere much more exotic. It could even be the future with cooled and heated climbing holds, for a more realistic feel!
The MoonBoard is a standardised 40-degree bouldering training wall. It is designed by Ben Moon for climbers wishing to optimise their climbing performance in the simplest of environments. Plotted against a grid of lettered and numbered coordinates, each unique MoonBoard hold is rotated and set in a specific location.
Combined with the bluetooth-powered LED kit and the free MoonBoard app for iOS and Android, climbers can easily find, illuminate, create, and share problems with fellow MoonBoard users, no matter what their location. It is the perfect way to have a content without other people aswell. You can see how many problems of set difficulty you can finish. This engages the user, and compel them to keep climbing.
With thousands of MoonBoards available to climb around the world, the MoonBoard has become one of the most sought-after training systems for home users and commercial climbing gyms alike. And we of course have our own MoonBoard in MønBoulders.dk climbing gym.
Augmented Reality Climbing
ValoClimb is the world’s first interactive game platform for climbing walls. It is basically an AR climbing wall. This active play technology invites anyone, from the youngest kids to hard training adults, to a have an amazing time and get a great physical exercise. It is a fantastic way to make climbing accessible and fun for everyone. Not only the climber is absorbed by the augmented reality, but everyone else can see the AR aswell.
And even the audience is easily captivated by the games. People often spontaneously participate by cheering and shouting instructions.
We do not yet have an augmented reality climbing wall, but we are working on getting one!
